Thesis Blog - Week 13

17 Days until Showcase

My counter says 17 days to go before showcase. I’m a bit burned out at this point and I think the ambiguity of the paper and new unexpected deliverables pushed it over the edge. I’m doing my best to stay focused.

I’m going to take Amy’s and Regine’s advice from demo day and truncate the overall project to a portion of the piece. This way I can focus more on accessibility and highlight the UX mapping I’ve been doing since then. For accessibility I’m planning on having small copies of the script for users to follow along. I’ve also developed cstylized captions unique for each character. This can help with multiple speaking parts. For UX I have mapped the full experience with a flowchart of the larger onboarding/offboarding process and the finer mappings of all possible outcomes based on specific actions.

Because of this, I will shift the demo time to approx first 3-5 minutes of the original show, bookended with a “to be continued…” This allows all working parts to be shown as a teaser with the only item lacking is additional content. I’ll still hit interaction points, interpersonal activities, and all working media technology as originally planned.

I’ve been working on my paper and have it about 90% done. I need to go back and add more citations and research for some items. I feel confident about the form now. The extra bits like abstract and vita need to be filled but that feels like an easy task. Hopefully there aren’t too many notes.
