5 Days until Demo Day?

67 Days until Showcase

This week I learned great news. I had my dates mixed up for showcase and actually have an additional 4 days. I’m stressing this entire week trying to get things together. I’ve been working 9-5 and then coming to school and working from 5-12am to get prepped for demo day. I have made significant progress with my timers and cueing different things in Touchdesigner. I still need to test a full setup of all the working pieces. I have the content, the voiceover for my scene (thanks to my friend DJ), and the projection and fish all working. I have them successfully triggering in TD but haven’t had all components connected at once to complete it.

I don’t have any days off until demo day so I’ll need to focus hard to get this done. The extra days were essential to get this together so I’m hoping to pull everything together.

——————-

It’s been a few days and showcase is tomorrow. I ran a successful test! I had all components setup in my living room and working for the Y2K scene. It really made the magic come together. People I showed it too were blown away that it worked. The components weren’t mounted in the best way but I’ll save that as a problem for demo day. The one concession I had to make was offloading my playback of audio and MIDI files into QLab. This was because there was an issue with the BLE communication and TD’s handling of MIDI devices. I rented QLAB for the week and will continue as I go along. The issue was isolated to TD and unfortunately I don’t think it’s my lack of skills but a bug in the TD code interacting with the Unix kernel on Mac. Tomorrow I will pack everything up and spend all day refining and tweaking. I’m excited this is working because now I can spend tomorrow working on some basic theming and sets. I’m excited to showcase it and so glad it’s ready. This is doable!
