Thesis Blog - Week 3

I feel this work is an expansion on many of my previous works but so far is the most authentic project I've worked on. Core themes of my other projects include metaphysics, the self, existentialism, story, and humor. This tends to combine all of those into one narrative that emanates where I've been trying to figure out what my actual work as an artist and designer is. This project expands on work I've done with Columbia University's Digital Storytelling Lab, themed entertainment design, and digital experience design with Arup. Each of these influences brings different influences but are all vitally important. Columbia's DSL taught me about the importance of human connection in immersive narratives, themed entertainment taught me how to make it fun, and Arup taught me how to design it down to the last HDMI cable and ensure the system works before it's ever constructed. My contribution here is unique through the execution and integration of what's possible. This is an ambitious project for a short timeframe. It is to show how the opportunities and affordances of the tools that have been developed and matured over time, allow high-quality experiences to be produced in an agile way with small teams.

My questions surround the specific content that I'm making instead of the system and workflow I'm looking to build out. I am sure of my abilities as a technician and designer but am still developing artistic skills on the content development side. I want to create believable narratives, characters, and scenes while allowing audiences to connect with the environment around them.
